November

	On November 20-22, 2013 Republican stage of National Forum of NGOs took place in Tashkent. During the Forum Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds was awarded by note of thanks for contribution to realization of social-economical programs aimed at development of Uzbekistan. Read more>>
	In November 2013 in its letter to IBA Programme Coordination and Implementation Team BirdLife Secretariat provided some updates about BirdLife networks and a new project launched by the Partnership. Read more>>
	On November 29, 2013 in Poytakht Business Center in Tashkent first workshop of multiparty working group of UNDP/GEF Project "National Biodiversity Planning to Support the Implementation of the CBD 2011-2020 Strategic Plan in Uzbekistan" took place. During discussions first variants of national goals for biodiversity conservation were proposed. Read more>>
	On November 26-28, 2013 in Brussels (Belgium) annual Spring Alive workshop took place. It was organized by Polish Society for the Protection of Birds (OTOP), the BirdLife partner in Poland, which is responsible for an international coordination of Spring Alive Projects. Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds also participated in the meeting and made two presentations in Education and Communication sections. Read more>>
	On November 15-17, 2013 in Botanical garden in Tashkent seminar and competitions in frameworks of "Tashkent Urban - 2013" project were organized. UzSPB also participated in organization of this event and promoted birdwatching for more than 100 schoolchildren and students. Read more>>

	Over the past weekend, more than 19.000 of adults and children took part in more then 900 events in 30 countries in Europe and Central Asia to watch the fascinating migration of 2,4 millions birds to their wintering areas in the South. For the 20th time already, the public was invited by the national organisations of BirdLife International to observe this spectacle of nature. Read more>>

September

	On September 5-17, 2013 UzSPB staff organized meetings in student birdwatching clubs "Otus" at Karakalpak State University, "Ivolga" at Bukhara State University and "Flamingo" at Samarkand State University. Main targets of the visit were: overlooking clubs' activities and start implementation of SpringAlive program in Uzbekistan. Read more>>
	On August 29-30, 2013 UzSPB carried out annual autumn counts of Pheasant on the territory of Dalverzin hunting-management area. The analysis of the results allowed estimating the number of the specie on the territory in autumn 2013 as equal to 16,670 individuals. Read more>>

	Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds is realizing project "Developing and implementation of educational kit for sustainable use of resources of biodiversity". Funds for this project are provided by Foundation for Support of NGOs and other Institutions of Civil Society at Parliament of Republic of Uzbekistan. Read more>>

	Work under "Spring Alive" programme is going on in Uzbekistan. UzSPB planned following activities in the framework of first SA grant in 2013-2014: first project workshop with chairs of 3 UzSPB branches; meeting with "Help Swifts" initiative group in World Migratory Bird Day and printing out of SA PR-materials. 	In March and May 2013 in spring migration and breeding period members of Karakalpak branch of UzSPB conducted ornithological research on Mashankul and Khodjakul lakes located in Kungrad and Muynak regions of Karakalpakstan. Expeditions were financed by International Foundation for Saving the Aral Sea from Uzbekistan (IFAS). Read more>>
	World Migratory Bird Day 2013 broke all records - celebrations were registered in 88 countries worldwide! 350 registered events in 88 countries worldwide made WMBD 2013 the most successful campaign ever! In Uzbekistan this campaign covered 3 regions and involved more than 200 people. Read more>>

April

	On April 26-28, 2013 members of Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds carried out traditional spring counts of Pheasants in Dalverzin hunting management area. 25 people participating in the event counted 8820 Pheasants - it's 15.6 % more than in the last year. Read more>>
	The new volume 35(1) 2013 of Sandgrouse was issued. It is publishing twice a year by Ornithological Society of the Middle East the Caucasus and Central Asia. Read more>>
	In the first days of April 2013 International Bird Day was celebrated in Uzbekistan. In this year April bird counts and educational events covered Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana regions of Uzbekistan as well as Karakalpakstan and involved about 300 schoolchildren, students and grown-ups. 	On March 4-9, 2013 representatives of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB): International Action Plans Adviser Geoff Welch and Partner Development Officer for Central Asia Ward Stephanie visited Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds (UzSPB) with working visit. Read more>>
	On March 23, 2013 on the square at Tashkent Zoo festival of decorative birds devoted to Navruz took place. The event was organized by direction of Tashkent Zoo and joined together more than 100 professionals and bird lowers who deal with breeding of birds, mainly doves. Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds actively participated in the event. Read more>>

On February 1, 2013 in National Press Center of Uzbekistan press conference about role and prospects of wetlands in biodiversity conservation took place. It was organized by State Committee for Nature Protection of Uzbekistan, ecological publishing company "Chinor" and "Ecosan" international foundation. More than 50 representatives of ministries, educational organizations, NGOs and journalists took part in the event. Read more>>

January

	In second weekends of January Uzbekistan participated in International Waterbird Census programme. It was initiated by UzSPB and involved 31 ornithologists and students. Bird counts covered Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Fergana regions of Uzbekistan. Observations were carried out on IBAs "Tuyabuguz water reservoir", "Kattakurgan water reservoir" and "Bukhara fish farm" Read more>>
	On November 25, 2013 UzSPB together with Ecological movement of Uzbekistan organized presentation of photo album "Birds of Uzbekistan". It took place in the office of Ecological movement and joint together more than 80 representatives of wide conservation public. Read more>>
