On October 4-5 in 40 countries in Europe and Central Asia, the public was invited by the national organizations of BirdLife International to observe the fascinating migration of 2.5 million birds to their wintering areas in the South. From Portugal to Kazakhstan from Malta to Norway more than 23,000 people took part in more than 895 events to watch this spectacle of nature.

BirdLife International invites people in Europe to take the opportunity on 4/5 October 2014 to discover the fascinating world of bird migration. This year, the national partners of BirdLife International of 37 countries in Europe and Central Asia invite people to observe the birds and hear interesting facts about bird migration and threats they face during their journeys.

The new volume 36(2) 2014 of Sandgrouse was issued. It is publishing twice a year by Ornithological Society of the Middle East, the Caucasus and Central Asia. This issue is about interesting bird observations in different countries.
