EUROBIRDWATCH 2022 RESULTS IN UZBEKISTAN

Over the past weekend more than 19.000 people attended the EuroBirdwatch 2022, the biggest European birdwaching event. 35 national partners of BirdLife International across Europe and Central Asia invited people to more than 750 different events to observe the fascinating bird migration and see more than 4.6 million birds on their way southwards to their wintering places.

A first summarize direct after the events brings the fantastic results from 32 BirdLife Partners in following numbers of 753 events, 19.148 participants and more than 4.6 million observed birds. The data of all national partners were collected, evaluated and published by the European Center, which was the Slovak BirdLife Partner.

On this day, UzSPB members in 7 regions of Uzbekistan registered more than 23 thousand birds of 93 species, including 18 rare and globally-threatened species! The most observed bird species recorded in our country during the EuroBirdwatch were Common Teal (5,165), Slender-billed Gull (2,025) and Little Stint (1,990).

Spectacular ornithological observations were Sociable Lapwing (7) at Tudakul water reservoir in Navoiy region of Uzbekistan, White-headed Duck (32) at Ashikul lake in Karakalpakstan and Steppe Eagle (2) at Tuzkan lake in Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan. Special visitors were Muratbay Zhumanov, Chairman of the Karakalpak branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan joined EBW2022 birdwatching event in Karakalpakstan.
