WORK ON ACTION PLANS FOR IBAs IS GOING ON

In November and December 2012 meetings with local people were organized again on each project territory. During the meetings project executors discussed problems existent on territory with locals and heard about possible actions directed on their solving.

Meeting in Amankutan pass joined 20 local people and staff of village administration. Were discussed such directions of planning activities as: water development and cleaning up springs from overgrowth of willow, preparation to spring planting of trees, developing of tourism as well as environmental education for local people. 25 local people and staff of the territory took part in the meeting on Dalverzin hunting management area. During the meeting were identified contact persons responsible for work on next directions: preparing informational stands from natural materials and leaflets for hunters, biodiversity monitoring, ecological path, cleaning up of wells and canals for riparian forest restoration. In the meeting in Ayakagitma village 11 local people participated. The meeting allowed identifying following reasons of biodiversity decreasing: cutting of saxaul, poaching, and low control of inspectors. Together with local people project executors developed some activities to prevent these problems: organize school group "Young naturalists", plant saxaul and wormwood by locals and regular monitoring of plants and animals on project territory.

On December 17, 2012 in UzSPB office Second workshop with project executors took place. During workshop project executors presented necessary activities for each project territory in 2013. These activities will be included in preliminary Action Plans for each site.
